MANSFIELD – With Mansfield Motor Speedway’s and Attica Raceway Park’s 2017 racing seasons already underway, it’s time for Fremont Speedway and Wayne County Speedway to join the fray as both dirt tracks host their first events this weekend.

Wayne County Speedway opens its doors Saturday for the 57th race in Tony Stewart’s Arctic Cat All Star Circle of Champions race. Chad Kemenah, a four-time circuit champion and a two-time WCS champion, will lead the charge as the ASCoC’s current point leader. He and the other all-star drivers will battle local drivers such as Danny Mumaw, Brad Haudenschild, Nick Patterson, and Mitch and Jordan Harble in a 30-lap feature with a $5,000 prize on the line.

Gates open at 3 p.m., qualifying starts at 6 p.m. and racing is slotted for an hour later.

But while dirt is flying at WCS, Fremont Speedway also will be up and running for its 67th season of racing. The track will see 410 Sprints compete in the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads FAST Championship series and 305 Sprints compete in the JLH General Contractor FAST 305 Championship Series.

‘We’re excited to get the season under way,” track promoter and FAST Championship Series president Rich Farmer said in a press release. “Not only will it be a fantastic opener, but we’re pumped about the FAST series and the talent that has signed up to compete for the championships this year.”

The 410 FAST Series started its season at Attica last weekend with Fremont driver D.J. Foos bringing home the first series checkered flag of his career. Saturday will be the first race of the season for the 305 Series, featuring former champions Nate Dussel and Paul Weaver.

Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing starting at 7 p.m.

Finally, while Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course’s official schedule doesn’t start until June, it will host its first public event this weekend as the National Auto Sports Association hosts the Shawshank Escape event Friday through Sunday. Spectator tickets are $10, and more information is available at nasagreatlakes.com
